The Tower: meaning

Upright meaning

This card points to a chance to look again at the foundations of what you've built. An unexpected event can strip away an assumption and show you what really matters. Where something comes down, there's room to build again.

In love

A time when the gap between how you imagined the relationship and how it actually is becomes easy to see. Even with the surprise, facing each other honestly could rebuild something sturdier.

In work and daily life

A moment when the assumptions behind a plan shift, and you may need to change direction. Rebuilding with flexibility can reveal a stronger shape.

Reversed meaning

Rather than a big upheaval, small tremors tend to bring the insight now. Fix the things that have been nagging at you early on, and rebuilding tends to go more calmly.

In love

Small misunderstandings tend to surface now. Talking calmly about what's bothering you before it grows is likely to put your mind at ease.

In work and daily life

You're likely to notice small problems while they're still small. Ask for advice or make a fix early, and you should ride it out calmly.

Symbols on the card

Often shown as lightning striking a tall tower and a crown blown off. The lightning is read as sudden insight or realization, and the falling crown as excessive pride or appearances. The sky left behind after the collapse is said to symbolize the open space for a new start.

If you draw this card

Ask yourself

What assumption have you been taking for granted that you'd like to look at again?

One thing to do today

Take one thing that didn't go as planned and turn it into a funny story.

It's okay to be startled. I'm right here with you.
