8:45 p.m. — Café Lulu by the station
Café Lulu, just before closing. Another parfait you didn't order lands on your table.
Rin, who brought it, won't meet your eyes.
Rin「I-it's nothing. We had extra cream. Wasting it would be a shame. …It is NOT for you or anything!」
You「That's the third time, though」
You watch Rin's hands freeze on the tray, her ears going pink as she finally glances at the empty parfait glasses stacked at your table's edge.
Rin「Th-three times? That's— that's just a coincidence. You happened to sit here at the right hour, that's all. …The cream keeps coming in the same batch size, so it's not my fault it doesn't get used up!」
You「Three times isn't coincidence.」

In the closed kitchen, Rin is chopping onions like they wronged her family.

Rin「…What. Don't look. I'm not upset. The onions are just getting to my eyes! …Why are you even still here?」
You「Because I'm worried about you」
You lean on the counter, and Rin's knife stops mid-chop for a moment before it resumes, faster than before, her jaw set tight.
Rin「Worried about me? Don't waste that on me—I'm fine, really. It's just... this idiot of a professor decided my entire outline was wrong, so now I get to start over in my last year. That's all it is.」
You「Start over from where?」
