Cursor for stories
“Cursor for writers”: an AI editor that reads your whole story and shows fixes as diffs
Cursor is an AI editor for programmers (its own words: “a coding agent for building ambitious software”). It reads the whole codebase and proposes changes as diffs. BunCho brings that idea to fiction and scripts. A story's “code” is its characters, facts, foreshadowing and timeline.
The analogy: code and stories
| Area | Code (Cursor) | Stories (BunCho) |
|---|---|---|
| Completion while you write | Tab suggests code from your recent edits and surrounding code | Tab completion suggests what comes next from context and your story notes |
| Rewrite a selection | Instructions on a selection | ⌘K rewrites the selected text and shows a diff |
| Edits across files | Agent edits across files | Agent edits across chapters; you review the diffs first |
| Understanding the whole | Answers with the whole codebase in view | Story Graph: characters, facts and who knows them, foreshadowing, causal events |
| Checks | Review (Bugbot) finds problems | Story Tests: timeline, knowledge, motivation, foreshadowing, continuity, voice drift |
| Refactoring | Rename and propagate changes | Story Refactoring: change one fact, get fixes for every affected scene |
What BunCho does differently
- Story Refactoring (find what a change breaks)Change a fact in plain words (“Mina is actually his sister”). BunCho finds the affected scenes across the whole work and proposes edits as diffs. Accept them one by one; a checkpoint is made before anything is applied.
- Story Tests (continuity and foreshadowing)Free rule-based checks for timeline and causality, characters knowing things too early, motivation, foreshadowing set-up and payoff, continuity after exits and of costume, injuries and props, and first-person drift.
- From novel to manga, video, songs and playable storiesKeep the same characters and facts while turning the story into manga (with Japanese vertical lettering, ruby and kinsoku), video, songs with music videos, playable stories and audio dramas.
- Japanese typesetting and posting formatsVertical EPUB with ruby, export formats for Japanese web-novel sites, DOCX, TXT and Markdown. Scripts also export to Fountain and FDX.
Getting started
- Bring your manuscript into the free importer below (TXT, Word, Markdown, Scrivener, Fountain and more; no account needed).

- Run Story Tests for unresolved foreshadowing, voice drift and continuity, free.
- To change a fact, tell Story Refactoring in plain words and accept the proposed fixes one by one.
