Cursor for stories

An AI screenplay editor that checks continuity, with Fountain and FDX

BunCho's Story OS manages scripts for drama, anime and vertical series together with their canon: who knows what and when, foreshadowing, props, costumes and injuries. Change a fact and it finds the affected scenes and proposes fixes; export to Fountain or FDX (Final Draft). Free tools convert script formats and estimate scene runtime.

What "Cursor for stories" means: BunCho is “Cursor for stories.” Cursor, the AI editor for programmers, reads a whole codebase and proposes changes as diffs. BunCho reads your whole story (characters, facts, foreshadowing, timeline); when you change one fact, it finds the scenes that need to change and proposes the edits as diffs. You accept or reject each one.

When Final Draft / Celtx is the better choice

To be fair: if these matter most to you, Final Draft / Celtx is a strong choice.

  • Final Draft: the industry-standard FDX format and production habits built around it
  • Celtx: production planning and team management
  • One-time purchase and offline use (Final Draft)

What BunCho does differently

Getting started

  1. Bring a Final Draft .fdx, a .fountain file or Japanese scenario text into the free importer below. Scenes become sections and speakers become characters.
  2. Use the free script converter for Japanese scenario ↔ Fountain ↔ FDX.
  3. Estimate runtime per scene with the scene runtime calculator.
  4. “Save to BunCho” and run Story Tests for continuity (saving needs a login).

FAQ

Does it support the Japanese scenario format?

Yes: 柱 (○place (time)), ト書き and Name「line」 are read and written, and converted to and from Fountain.

Can it read Final Draft files?

It reads FDX paragraph types (scene heading, action, character, dialogue, parenthetical, transition). Detailed formatting and comments do not transfer.

Is importing free?

Converting and backup are free with no account; saving needs a login.
