Foreshadowing Checker
Paste your manuscript to get a table of what was set up in which chapter, where it paid off, and what is still open. With no list, it still suggests likely setups: hinting phrases and unanswered questions in the narration.
What you can do next
Save to a private draft in the Studio (login needed; first-timers get a 7-day free trial).
In a saved work you can run Story Tests (foreshadowing, timeline, voice and continuity checks) and Story Refactoring.
How to use it
- Paste your manuscript (headings like “Chapter 1” let it work per chapter).
- List the setups you care about, one per line. Use “key=payoff word” to name the payoff, or write [setup: key] and [payoff: key] in the text.
- Press “Check” to get the table.
FAQ
How does it decide a setup paid off?
By your marks or payoff word if you gave one; otherwise by whether the setup comes back in the second half. It is an estimate, so read and confirm.
Is my manuscript uploaded?
No. The check runs entirely in your browser.
Does it work for long novels?
Yes, it runs in your browser. To track every setup across a whole work, use Story Graph and Story Tests in the Studio.
